Manhattan Mixed Drink

Mike’s Manhattan

Here's a unique Manhattan mixed drink I think you will find easy to prepare and quite tasty, might I add. I've served this drink on numerous occasions and it's been a hit with the folks.

  • 3–4 Ounces Bourbon (Your favorite or a Reserve Single Barrel)
  • 1 dash of Sweet Vermouth
  • 1 dash Premium Bitters
  • Maraschino Cherries and Juice

Most Manhattan drinkers are snobs when it comes to their drink. They don’t like anyone else’s but their own recipe.

Pour 3 to 4 ounces of your favorite Bourbon into a shaker full of ice (O. K. at this point you are saying, “wait!” A Manhattan should be stirred and not shaken. And I would say you are correct, but work with me on this one).

Add a dash of sweet Vermouth, maybe as much as 1/2 teaspoon. Again you’re saying, “wait!” I know, generally you want to pour the Vermouth over ice, being sure to coat the ice and pour off the excess. Again, bear with me.

Add a dash plus of Premium Bitters. Add approximately 1 - 1 1/2 teaspoon of maraschino cherry juice into shaker.

Now here is the tricky part. Do Not Shake! Slowly turn the shaker over and back a few times. If you shake the mixture you change the flavor of the drink and end up with a lot of foamy bubbles.

Place two cherries in a chilled martini glass (3 if your desire) and strain mix from shaker slowly into a large martini glass. Enjoy!
