Texas Two Step Barbecue Sauce
Cook's Notes: This barbecue sauce is very easy to make and if you add a little heat, it will make your taste buds do the Texas Two Step!
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/3 cup water
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 teaspoon packed brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Directions: Mix and heat all ingredients except lemon and lime juice and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a boil over a low to medium heat. Stir in the lemon and lime juice and Worcestershire sauce. Continue to heat until hot. This should make about 2 cups of sauce. If you desire heat, add your favorite hot sauce after the Worcestershire sauce. To add a little spice you could use a couple of drops of Tabasco, a couple drops of Cajun Chef and maybe a couple drops of Silver Star, a Texas Hot Sauce. Remember not to overheat on the front end. You can always come back and add more heat later.
