Texas Apple Kuchen

Apple Kuchen, Texas Style


  • 1 Package Yellow Cake Mix
  • 2 ½ Cups Sliced Granny Smith Apples, Pared
  • ½ Cup Sweet Cream Butter
  • ½ Cup Flaked Coconut
  • ½ Cup Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
  • ½ Cup Finely Chopped Texas Pecans
  • 1 Cup Sour Cream
  • 2 Farm Fresh Egg Yolks


Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Cut butter into dry cake mix until crumbly. Next mix in the coconut. Pat mixture lightly in ungreased 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan. Bake 10 minutes.

Arrange apple slices on warm crust. Combine the sugar, cinnamon, and nuts; and then sprinkle on the apples. Blend sour cream and egg yolks then drizzle over apples.

Bake 25 minutes or until light brown. Do not over bake. Serve warm. Enjoy!!
